Overview
Bordering the fringes of Malaysian states of Selangor and Pahang lies a little town called Kuala Kubu Bharu (affectionately known as KKB by the locals). This little town, which is little known to many, has recently been getting more and more popular particularly for their outdoor activities.
(eg. cycling, camping, water rafting, etc.)
Anyhow, for those who are waterfall-cum-jungle trekking lovers, you have come to the right place. The surrounding hillside terrain of KKB are homes to several beautiful waterfalls. The more popular waterfall in the area are the Chiling Falls. While Chiling Falls are definitely worth visiting (why else would they be so well-known?), it's sometimes nice to get a bit off the beaten path and who knows you might discover a unique experience.
Located not too far away from the Chiling Falls are a pair of waterfalls called Lubuk Mecu and Lata Medang. Being lesser-known and lesser visited, these two waterfalls are relatively undamaged which makes them spectacular. The trail to the waterfalls begins from an Orang Asli (indigenous people) village named Kampung Pertak, which is located along the trunk road between Kuala Kubu Bharu and Fraser's Hill. You may find that this is the same starting point as if you were to hike Bukit Kutu (Treacher's Hill).
